Definition of e-government

E-government is defined as an approach to government that uses information and communication technology, especially the Internet. Relationships between governments depend on technology to improve the inner workings of government bureaucracies. The role of technology in the country also includes facilitating the rapid exchange of information between departments and agencies. Interaction between different governments through the use of the Internet to reduce the costs incurred by the government, especially in the matter of buying and selling goods and services from multiple companies, and the use of technology helps in providing public services via the Internet to the citizen.  , as well as dissemination of government opinion polls via the web and e-mail.  The term digital government is used to express the concept of e-government, where the term digital government refers to the comprehensive use of all communication and information technologies in public sector institutions.

The emergence of e-government

The emergence of the concept of e-government began during the fifties and sixties of the last century, through the emergence of scientific management ideas, and the spread of this concept expanded in the early nineties, as it became the most widely used concept.  Common on public sector reform agendas has been liberal democratic political systems since the era of US President Bill Clinton. The concept of electronic service delivery for government modernization was also used by the British Labor Party in 1997, in addition to this concept it was pioneered in many countries such as Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
