Amazon is an American e-commerce company, which started selling books and then expanded its products, to later revolutionize the world of shopping and electronic stores, the value of its goods exceeds one hundred billion dollars annually.
foundation
Amazon.com was founded on July 5, 1994, in Washington state by Jeff Bezos, who started his own online selling company called Amazon Store. The site officially opened on July 16, 1995, and was the first book sold by Douglas Hofstadter, entitled "Fluid Concepts and Creative Comparisons.. Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Ideas".

The name

Bezos chose the name "Amazon" in reference to the Amazon River, which is the largest in the world, in line with his goal to have the largest store in the world. And since the year 2000, the Amazon logo has appeared, an arrow resembling a smile extending from the letter “Alif” (A) to the last letter in the Latin alphabet (Z), and indicates that the company provides all products, i.e. from A to Z, and aims to satisfy the customer with it.

success story

The story of the Amazon company began with an idea in Bezos’ head when he was attracted by the idea of selling books on the Internet, but he initially faced difficulties in financing the completion of his project, which set a budget of one million dollars for him, due to what he described at the time as “weak understanding of investors and their lack of belief in the capabilities of the Internet, and their skepticism about the ability of the Internet.” Amazon project on success.

Despite this, Bezos set out to implement his project after receiving a sum of one hundred thousand dollars from his parents, and his success in convincing a number of businessmen to invest fifty thousand dollars for each person.

It also hit the authors' fear and concern over their books from quotation and intellectual and literary theft, as they were clinging to copyright, but these fears were later dissipated after the project achieved the unparalleled success that made it the largest electronic market in the world whose goods exceed a hundred billion dollars annually.

The financial figures for the second fiscal quarter of 2016 indicate that Amazon surpassed Wall Street's previous expectations of 29.55 billion dollars to reach 30.4 billion dollars in income, and this revenue was distributed among shares to reach 1.78 dollars per share.

Compared to 2015, Amazon shares rose 40% and were able to post good profits for the fifth consecutive quarter, thanks to lower delivery costs to consumers and increased offerings, and the cloud storage division achieved sales of $2.89 billion, beating previous expectations as well.

Services

Amazon offers thousands of goods in multiple industries such as clothing, electronics, sporting goods, books, cosmetics, and others, and it has no place on the ground, but it has stores where it keeps goods until they are sent to their owners at their home addresses or the addresses of shipping companies’ offices.

It also provided, away from e-commerce, computer services, which recorded revenues of eight billion dollars in 2015, and Bezos announced a plan to launch a video site that competes with YouTube.

Among the services provided by the company is the "Prime" service that can be subscribed to for a hundred dollars an annual fee, and Amazon was able to build a broad base estimated at fifty million subscribers from the most spending shoppers.

The company considers the "Prime" service a key element in its strategy to dominate the world of e-commerce. The Amazon founder and CEO wrote in his annual letter to shareholders in April 2016 that Prime had become a way to meet all of the physical and digital needs of shoppers, and said he wanted Prime to be such an attractive deal that it would be "irresponsible" to opt-out.

Amazon also made a new step in the way of competing with companies that rent and sell video files over the Internet, such as "Netflix", by providing a video streaming service to users around the world.

And Amazon presented a concept for a project to create huge warehouses “in the sky” equipped with a fleet of drones to deliver goods to several selected locations. Huge balloons will carry the stores that will fly over places that the company believes will witness a high demand for purchasing certain products.

Amazon says stores can fly near the site of sporting events or festivals that it thinks will see food products or souvenirs sold.

And Amazon had earlier carried out the first delivery of goods by drone, as part of an experiment it conducted in Cambridge.

The whole story from zero to trillion dollars

The giant American company "Amazon" suddenly grabbed the spotlight after its market value broke the trillion-dollar barrier, to be the second company in human history to reach this value after "Apple", which manufactures "iPhone" phones, which recently reached this level, while it became " Amazon is also the largest retail company in the world.

Amazon works in the field of e-commerce, as it is considered a global electronic market, but its customers are located all over the world, and consumers almost find everything that comes to their mind on Amazon pages and they can get it with just a click of a button, through a computer or mobile phone.

But Amazon is unique in making the world-famous Kindle device, which is an e-book and tablet computer that competes in some versions with the iPads produced by Apple, and the Kindle is one of the sources of revenue and profits for the company as well.

The founding of the company "Amazon" officially dates back to the fifth of July 1994, at that time, "Amazon" was nothing but a dream that nestled in the brain of an American young man named Jeff Bezos, who was only 30 years old at the time, and only one year before that he had married A girl named Mackenzie.

Bezos began founding "Amazon" in the garage of his house, in which he lived with his bride, whom he married months ago, and at that time the value of his company was zero, as it was only an idea in his head and he himself was not very optimistic about its success, in addition to the fact that the Internet was in that Then it did not reach most countries of the world, as reports indicate that in 1996 there were 10 million computers connected to the Internet only in all parts of the world.

But the most important information in the history of this giant company is that its original name was “Kadabra”, according to a report by the “Business Insider” website seen by Al-Arabiya.net, which is inspired by the word “Abra Kadabra” used by children in the Western world to express Magic or things that are performed on the spot are like magic and are taken from fantasy stories that are loved by youngsters.

The company "Amazon" began its work in the field of selling books, where the first shipment that Bezos sent from his garage was a book called (Fluid Concepts & Creative Analogies), and that was in July 1995, a full year after the company was founded, but now it is Amazon warehouses can accommodate more than 10,000 Olympic swimming pools.

Amazon began to record rocket leaps since the beginning of this year until its share price recently exceeded the level of 2050 dollars, which made the company's market value exceed one trillion dollars for the first time.

The company's share has risen by 75% this year, adding more than $435 billion to the company's market value.

A few days ago, "Apple" became the first company in the world to exceed a trillion dollars in market value, after announcing that it achieved better than expected results in the second quarter of this year, making "Amazon" the second company to join this club of trillion companies.
