In the year 2000 AD, Canon launched a camera (in English: EOS 30D), with a resolution of 3.2 megapixels. This camera was a great success and greatly improved Canon's economics, placing it at the forefront of the digital market. In 2001, Canon released the 1D camera, also a single-lens DSLR, which surpassed Nikon at the time.
