• Weight: The weight of the golden jackal ranges from 6 to 14 kg, the females are less, and the weight of the female ranges from 7 to 11 kg.

•  Fur: ​​Golden jackals have thick, short-length fur that is yellow to pale gold and brown in color.

•  Head: The golden jackal has the face of a fox, but its skull is smaller and its ears are pointed.

•  Tail: The golden jackal's tail is 12 inches long and covered in thick fur.

The golden jackal possesses several distinctive behavioral traits, including the following:

• The golden jackal is a social animal, living with their husbands and young, and tending to hunt in groups.

•      The golden jackal communicates through a combination of signals as well as various sounds, such as howls, growls, and screams.

•      The golden jackal runs at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.

•      Golden jackals are active at night and their activity is limited during the day.

Feeding the golden jackal

The golden jackal is a carnivorous animal, it feeds on small deer, rodents, hares, wild birds, bird eggs, reptiles, frogs, fish and insects, and may eat carrion on occasion, and this food constitutes about 54% of its feeding. . 

     The golden jackal eats about 46% of plant foods in its diet, as it eats fruits and some types of plants.

Golden Jackal Breed

The breeding season for the golden jackal varies depending on where it lives. Breeds in April and May in southeastern Europe, while it breeds year-round in tropical Asia.

     The golden jackal mates with only one wife, in which the male and female remain together for life, and the female gives birth up to 63 days, after which she gives birth to young, their number varies from 2 to 4 pups, and their weight varies from 200 to 250 grams, and their eyes remain closed for 10  Nursing mothers care for them for up to 90 days.
