Characteristics of adolescence in girls

 

Adolescence is a period of growth spurt and rapid, noticeable and different changes in the human body, where an adolescent may grow several inches in several months followed by a period of very slow growth, then another growth spurt may occur and changes may occur with slow puberty or several changes can occur at the same time These changes will occur differently in adolescents, just as those changes will appear differently between men and women, as there are certain characteristics that are related only to girls.

Characteristics of adolescence in girls

There are a number of features and characteristics that distinguish teenage girls, namely:

 physical characteristics

• Changes in breast size occur, there is an increase in hair growth around the genital area and under the arms.

• A change in the shape of the girl's body, and there may be an increase not only in height and weight, but also in the widening of the hips.

•  There may be an increase in the appearance of oily skin, sweating and acne breakouts, and adolescent girls are preparing for pregnancy and the formation of their menstrual cycle. 

• The change in voice appears to be more severe.

Cognitive and mental characteristics

Teenagers have a greater ability to think abstractly and can make plans and set long-term goals. Each child can progress at different rates and show a different view of the world in general, as well as some of the abilities and skills that she possesses, such as; Develop the ability for abstract thinking, interest in philosophy, politics, social issues, long-term thinking, goal setting, as well as comparison with peers. 

 Emotional and psychological characteristics

Teenage girls begin to search for their identity as they strive to build their independence, peer influences can also surface, and relationships with peers become very important.  The girl can begin to feel loved and build long-term relationships. They sometimes show excessive emotions, and society plays a role in determining her ability to express those feelings and feelings between freedom and restriction.

A teenage girl's gender identity

Girls' sexual identity emerges from early stages through the choice of types and forms of toys and the choice of their partners; Also in the way they behave, and that gender identity can be distinguished in the choice of clothes and other things that should be worn, and some of the hobbies that girls prefer; For example, sewing, embroidery, gymnastics or some simple games that adolescent boys do not like, sexual awareness arrives much earlier; They can be seen approaching members of their gender during adolescence and trying to acquire a set of behavior patterns that are socially acceptable and popular for their gender.
