Keep in mind that our site is full of spikes and other debris ... but you can easily tell the difference based on the beep. I always thought it would be fun to try out a metal detector and give the kids a good excuse to get out and try something new. I liked the look of this unit, so I decided to give it a try. Sad to report that my kids couldn't find a pile of gold in the backyard...but they had fun finding the coins I threw away (lawnmower I'm sure I'll find the rest). They also decided that the banknote detector would be even more fun! It worked very well and also helped me find the buried spray box I needed to find. Very lightweight and made almost entirely of plastic. I don't know how it compares to other high-end models, but it's fun to play with. The added accessories were nice. My only real disappointment is that it's powered by a 9v battery that I don't usually have.

This metal detector is easy to set up and move. The settings are very easy to understand how to change them, but it takes time to understand what seems to be the best for your current location/situation. So far, I haven't had the opportunity to take this item out and use it as much as I like, but I think it feels right. I've read other reviews complaining about how it makes sounds everywhere. At first, I had the same experience. I own 10 acres and was once occupied by logging towns where most people left at least 100 years ago. You can't dig a hole without finding the base, nails, glass, ashes, wires, etc. While digging a hole in the fence pillar, I also found a pool table in an old hotel or salon. My point is that I don't know if there is a glitch when it is constantly beeping or if it is constantly picking up the signal. Therefore, we lowered the sensitivity and increased the selectivity of the mineral we were looking for. There are still false signals here and there, but I ended up finding a small container that looks like it's made of zinc. Please give it a try before you get frustrated.
